Urgent: Take action in Massachusetts!

Updated: Oct 8, 2020

Letters of support are needed to defeat Massachusetts House bill H.3665, an Act to abolish Columbus Day and replace it with Indigenous Peoples Day on the second Monday in October.

(1) Please write to members of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight to defeat H.3665, “An Act Establishing Indigenous Peoples Day.”

This Committee will decide whether the bill continues through the legislative process, and your testimony will make a difference! The Committee has received letters from voters in support of this bill. To counter their efforts, please write to the Committee urging them to support Italian American heritage in Massachusetts by defeating H.3665.

(2) Please also contact Wellesley's two elected state officials to express your support for retaining the observance of Columbus Day on the second Monday in October in Massachusetts:

Representative Alice Hanlon Peisch at Alice.Peisch@mahouse.gov

Senator Cynthia Stone Creem at Cynthia.Creem@masenate.gov
